SALMON Health and Retirement

Senior Living and Healthcare Options Across the Full Continuum of Care

SALMON ACQUIRES VNA AND HOSPICE OF GREATER MILFORD

SALMON Health and Retirement, widely recognized as a leader in senior housing and health care in this region for 60 years, announced that the local, family-owned and operated organization has officially acquired the VNA and Hospice of Greater Milford from Milford Regional Medical Center (MRMC) as of August 1, 2012.

SALMON is planning to merge the operations of their own SALMON Hospice Care with the VNA and Hospice of Greater Milford. The VNA will continue to be run by current Director of VNA Services Jean Masciarelli, RN, who has worked in healthcare for over 35 years. SALMON’s Director of Hospice Services, Michele McGovern, RN, will lead the merged hospice component. McGovern, a 16-year SALMON employee, helped to establish the company’s hospice services in 2008.

CEO of MRMC Francis M. Saba said, “When we began the process of seeking a buyer for our VNA, our first priority was to find an organization which we felt would maintain and further build upon the high quality and outstanding care that has been the hallmark of the Greater Milford VNA and Hospice since its beginning in 1918; SALMON Health and Retirement is that organization. Their fine reputation and stellar track record as providers of compassionate and superb post-acute care and assisted living services assures continued excellence in the care that will be provided by the VNA.”

SALMON Celebrates 60 Years of Caring: 1952-2012

SALMON Health and Retirement’s communities in Natick, Northborough, Northbridge, Westborough and Worcester, Massachusetts, the culmination of 60 years of senior living tradition and innovation, have earned the trust and confidence of seniors and their families across New England.

Third-generation Salmon family members are actively involved in the daily operations of SALMON Health and Retirement, formerly “The Salmon Family of Services”: independent retirement communities, assisted living residences, specialized assisted living with Alzheimer’s care, adult day health centers, rehabilitation and skilled nursing centers, child care centers, and senior living management and consulting services.

SALMON Health and Retirement received Worcester Business Journal’s 2010 Central Mass. Family Business Award. The WBJ writes, in part: “SALMON Health and Retirement…has been a pioneer…championing the idea of offering a continuum of care. The family’s innovations are the result of listening carefully to customers and working to anticipate their needs.”

SALMON Health and Retirement is also proud to have received the 2009 Family Business of the Year Award from Northeastern University’s Center for Family Business. The award “promotes and highlights some of the great achievements of Massachusetts-based, family-owned businesses and entrepreneurs.”

Since 1952, when Helen and Daniel Salmon, Sr., opened their first nursing home in Northborough, Massachusetts, the Salmons have embraced a commitment to excellence, quality of care, and genuine concern for each and every resident.

Today, the Salmons and our extended family of superbly trained and caring employees share a commitment to maintaining the highest possible comfort, meaning, and quality in the lives of those we serve.
